MIDLAND SQUARE

A 247-m tall, 47-story high-rise building with 6 underground floors. The five-story high architectural atrium features a shopping/dining complex of high-end designer stores, cafés, restaurants, general stores, and a cinema complex. The Sky Promenade, where visitors can experience a walk 220 meters above the ground, holds the record for the highest open-air observation deck in Japan.

Atsuta Jingu Shrine

The grounds of the Jingu sanctuary are surrounded by a deep, dense green forest. At the end of a long path stands Atsuta Jingu shrine where the sacred Kusanagi Sword is enshrined and the deity Atsuta no Ōkami is worshipped. The shrine will be celebrating its 1,900-year anniversary soon. The Honden (main shrine) has the same Shinmei-style construction as the Grand Shrine of Ise. Within the fences, the main shrine sits in a pure, sacred atmosphere. There are 28 temples on the grounds, including Betsugu, Sessha and Massha. There are also the Treasury Hall, with a number of treasures, the Nobunaga-Bei (Nobunaga Wall) dedicated by General Oda Nobunaga, which is also one Japan's three largest clay walls, the 8-m tall Sakuma Tōrō (a Lantern), and Nagoya City's oldest stone bridge, Nijugo-cho-bashi.
