Doguya-suji

This unique shopping street is loaded with professional cooking tools for specialists. The shops carry a variety of items, such as knives, pans, chopsticks, dishes, restaurant menus, and signs to support professional cooks and the distinguished food culture of Osaka. Food samples might be nice souvenirs to take to home.

Tenno-ji Park

The park includes a zoo, museum, botanical garden, and old tomb. Among these, the Keitakuen Garden is famous for its very Japanese style. Trees and stones outline the pond and the gardens in the park show seasonal flowers. It is so peaceful and quiet, you won't believe that it is in the center of Osaka City.

Shitenno-ji Temple

The oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, built by Prince Shotoku-Taishi more than 1400 years ago. It was built in the Shitenno-ji-style, inspired by Chinese culture, with the Chu-mon (inner gate), Pagoda, Main hall, and Ko-do (hall for sermons and lectures) all in a line. It is one of the oldest architecture styles in Japan. Taishi Palace, where Shotoku-Taishi slept, and the Japanese Gokurakujo-do Garden are highlights. Not only the beautiful buildings, but also the statues and wall paintings are worth seeing. There are also gardens with tearooms that you might want to stop in while walking around the precinets.

National Bunraku Theatre

The Bunraku Puppet Theatre, which is the most refined from of puppetry in the world, is a combination of three skills each of which requires many years of training to master - puppet manipulation, joruri recitation and shamisen music.

Osaka-jo Castle

Today, the park is a place where you can enjoy a nice leisurely walk while viewing the curved, tall stone walls, large moats full of water, huge stones used inthe stone walls, and 400-year-old buildings. Within the park, there is a castle tower that was renovated in 1931, and you can see a panoramic view of the city from the top-floor observatory. The exhibition displays, cultural artifacts, videos, and models help you learn the history and background of the castle. In addition, there is also a place where you can get a taste of the samurai experience by trying on some old-style Japanese armor. Replicas of kabuto (samurai helmets) and jimbaori (war surcoats) are available to try on, and you can have your photo taken in them, too.

Kaiyukan

The main facility of the leisure complex of the bay area Tempozan Harbor Village. This aquarium features the Ring of Life (Pan Pacific Ocean Life Zone.) Ride an escalator all the way up to 8th floor, and then wind your way down a gentle slope as you observe fish and their habitat from 15 regions.
The highlight is an enormous tank where whale sharks(about 12-13 meters long as adults), the biggest sharks in the world, and other big fish swim slowly in front of you. Kaiyukan contains 39,000 sea creatures of 580 kinds.
