One of Osaka's downtowns, the Minami (South) district⁠—centered around the areas of Namba, Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi⁠—is a spectacular neon-lit center of food, shopping, and nightlife. Feast on delicacies such as Takoyaki from Osaka street vendors, shop till you drop at modern shopping malls and old-school shops, then go izakaya-hopping for a distinctly Osaka experience.

You can visit Iruka-jima (Dolphin Island) by taking a cruise from Toba Marine Terminal. The fare includes dolphin and seal shows, which everyone can enjoy. For an additional charge, you can even touch and feed the dolphins yourself!

See Japan's famous women pearl divers, known as ama, work their pearl-diving magic in the pristine waters just off Mie Prefecture. While you're here, be sure to take a look at Pearl Island's extensive pearl museum and learn more about the man who created the first cultured pearls, Kokichi Mikimoto. Don't forget to stop by the shop on your way out—pearls make wonderful gifts, after all!

Inhabited by over 1,200 species and 30,000 animals, this vast aquarium is the only one in Japan where you can see a dugong. Aside from gazing at the wondrous marine life in the tanks, you can also take in some of their shows where you can watch penguins waddle or even pet a walrus!

Experience hands-on a piece of traditional Japanese culture with a visit to Ama Hut Hachiman, where women divers known as ama still ply their trade today. Sample a meal made with fresh seafood broiled right in front of you. Listen to the ama talk about their unique culture and lifestyle, then try on one of their outfits and join them for a traditional folk dance. It's a trip back in time you won't soon forget!

The Yokoyama Observatory located in Ise-Shima National Park affords a stunning view of beautiful Ago Bay, which is itself famous for pearl cultivation. You'll be sure to see rafts dotting the bay, each one weaving through the coastline made up of 60 islands and peninsulas on the lookout for a perfect pearl.

Stroll through charming and photogenic Spanish-inspired streetscapes and vistas, taking in Flamenco dances, parades, and other delightful sights along the way. Nagoya Castle is one of the most historically and culturally significant castles in Japan. Gaze upon the majestic golden shachihoko carp adorning the topmost roof, a testament to the glory of the Tokugawa shogunate. Step inside to admire the beautiful interior of the Honmaru Palace central keep, then take a stroll through the enchanting Ninomaru East Garden.
