Toshodaiji Temple

This World Heritage site on the western outskirts of Nara is famous as the final resting place of Ganjin, a Chinese monk who was one of the most influential figures in bringing Buddhism to Japan. Visit architectural treasures like the main hall and lecture hall, the only surviving building from Nara Palace, then pay your respects at Ganjin's grave and find inner peace.
