Travel back to the 8th century when Nara was the capital of Japan at this World Heritage site. Though none of the original palace buildlings remain, you'll find historical relics excavated from the grounds and the reconstructed Daigokuden (Former Audience Hall), Suzaku Gate, and gardens, which allow visitors to take in the palace's former glory.
