Atsuta Jingu Shrine

A greatly revered Shinto shrine, the ancient Atsuta Shrine was said to have housed the legendary sword Kusanagi no Mitsurugi, one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan. The shrine's treasure hall stores over 6,000 relics, of which more than a hundred have been designated National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government. If you are fortunate, you may be able to witness one of the ten special Shinto rituals held annually at the shrine since the days of old.
